Ovid: Optimization of Conscious Sedation in Plastic Surgery
ثبت نشده
چکیده
The administration of conscious sedation by the plastic surgeon must be safe, efficient, and consistent. In the proper setting, with trained staff and appropriate backup, conscious sedation can allow optimal patient satisfaction with expedient recovery in addition to cost containment. The highly effective local anesthesia afforded by dilute, high-volume ("tumescent") infiltration extends the use of conscious sedation to cases previously performed under general anesthesia or deep sedation. The purpose of this analysis was to identify variables in conscious sedation that affect traditional outcome parameters in ambulatory surgery, particularly the duration of recovery and adverse events such as nausea and emesis. Variables Influencing the Depth of Conscious Sedation in Plastic Surgery: A Prospective Study
BACKGROUND Conscious sedation has been widely utilized in plastic surgery. However, inadequate research has been published evaluating adequate drug dosage and depth of sedation. In clinical practice, sedation is often inadequate or accompanied by complications when sedatives are administered according to body weight alone. The purpose of this study was to identify variables influencing the dept...
متن کاملEffectiveness and safety of oral sedation in adult patients undergoing dental procedures: protocol for a systematic review
INTRODUCTION The management of anxious patients undergoing dental procedures is still a challenge in clinical practice. Despite a wide variety of drugs for oral sedation in adult patients, there are relatively few systematic reviews that compare the effectiveness and safety of different drugs administered via this route. Thus, this study will evaluate the effectiveness and safety of oral sedati...
متن کاملASSESSMENT OF THE EFFICACY OF PARA CERVICAL BLOCK IN CONJUNCTION WITH CONSCIOUS SEDATION ON PAIN CONTROL DURING OUTPATIENT HYSTEROSCOPY
Background and Objective: Hysteroscopy is considered as very important in the investigation of abnormal uterine bleeding. It is usually performed as an outpatient procedure under either local or no anesthesia. This study was designed to compare the combination of paracervical block (PCB) and conscious sedation with paracervical block or conscious sedation alone for outpatient hysteroscopy i...
متن کاملObstructive sleep apnea: implications for the plastic surgeon and ambulatory surgery centers.
The dynamic growth of surgery in general and plastic surgery in particular has resulted in a greater number of ambulatory surgery centers. The ambulatory surgery center, as well as the plastic surgeon’s office, offers a more streamlined, cost-effective practice setting for the plastic surgeon. With the continued rise of healthcare costs, patients and physicians are electing to utilize ambulator...
متن کامل[Dexmedetomidine/propofol association for plastic surgery sedation during local anesthesia.].
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Dexmedetomidine is a new alpha2-adrenergic receptor agonist with potentially useful characteristics for anesthesia. This comparative study aimed at evaluating the effects of dexmedetomidine on propofol requirements and cardiovascular/respiratory stability during plastic surgery sedation under local anesthesia. METHODS Participated in this study 40 female patients age...
